Oh loads of stuff covered in this but the key thing to take away is:

WELLINGTON/HUTT/PORIRUA/WAIRARAPA IS ON TRACK TO BECOME A SUPERCITY AND POSSIBLY NOBODY IS GOING TO HAVE TO GET YOUR SAY SO IN ORDER TO DO IT.

Whatever your thoughts on this please go to http://www.wellington.govt.nz/reform and make a submission.  Listen very carefully, you will be asked this only once.

OUR BIRTHDAY PARTY IS TOMORROW!  And because the venue burnt down we will now be at the THISTLE INN.

A very special guest joins us via Skype in this episode to talk about Hekia Parata’s backdown on changes to class sizes in schools.  Also, don’t know if you heard but the Backbencher pub suffered a fire.  This is unrelated to Nikki Kaye crashing and burning on the show Backbences, which was filmed in Auckland this week.

CHANGE OF PLANS GUYS

Friday, June 8th, 2012

The Backbencher pub suffered a serious fire in the early hours of today.  While this is a blow for the city as a whole, and we hope everything can be put back just so, our listenership is predominately Gen Y, and anybody who reads the Listener can tell you that all Gen Ys are going to be thinking about is “how does this affect me?”.

It affects you thus: The Egonomist’s 2nd Birthday party which was to be held tomorrow at the Backbencher is moving to The Thistle Inn. Wellington’s most ancient pub where Te Rauparaha was told to have drunk for free on his reputation alone back when the waterline reached the pub door.  Fun times!

8pm, tomorrow Saturday June 9th, at The Thistle Inn
